BCT Harpers Ferry Half Marathon Testimonials

This was a great race.  The scenery was beautiful and the people were very friendly.  I made some new friends during this run and I am looking forward to running the half again next year!  Runner Charles Town WV

Course was awesome and difficult.  Also, I thought the beer selection was outstanding, especially the oatmeal stout.  Thank you very much.  Clarksville MD

it was really fantastic! I loved the atmosphere, organization, and post-race food and music. And I appreciated that when I had a problem with the race registration website, Todd wrote back and had the problem fixed within less than a day.  Wash DC runner

For a 4-mile race, it was challenging.  The finish tested your grit and there were no last second dashes to the line - this was all about gutting it out.  Keith, Columbia, MD

I've always loved Harpers Ferry and when I heard the Two Rivers Treads was organizing a "challenging" course (translation:  eek!) I wanted to be part of it.  Like Freedoms Run, I much prefer these smaller rural/scenic courses to the larger urban venues.  The mix of natural and asphalt surfaces (did I mention the hills?) made it my most favorite event to date.    Rick B, Baltimore MD

You guys put together a monster course. I've run lots of HM's but this had to be the most difficult and entertaining I've experienced. On top of that, pizza and craft beer (none of that Bud Lite!) for a reward. I'll be looking for round 2 next year. Thanks for an outstanding race!

We just wish to say THANK YOU for the best half-marathon we've ever run anywhere.  We have been running for  far more than 20 years more than 100 marathons/half-marathons between us.  Yesterday was the most wonderful race we've ever experienced.   The terrain was absolutely awesome, beautiful.  That first three mile loop out and back thru the Battlefield was unlike any running we've ever done.  The beauty of the Spring, all the green, the soft path looked like it was made for 'barefoot running', the weather was perfect for runners - ideal temperature, no sun, light wind.  And it just got better and better as we headed back out from the Start towards Harpers Ferry.

The out and back leg thru another battlefield, then the downhill to the Shenandoah River.   The trail along the Shenandoah was again soft, easy, great running.   And coming off the river, heading into Harper's Ferry on the old cobble-stones was a wake up call for the feet.   And then up Washington St....up...and up......and up.   Really colorful and fun.  Great downhill on return.  All in all an incredible experience.

Your overall  organization was great.  Packet pick was fast, efficient, easy.  All the volunteers were courteous and kind.  The volunteers posted out on the course, mostly younger folks, were enthusiastic and supportive.   They all made the race wonderful - they raised your event to the highest level.  They helped us to keep going and going, particularly up and over the many long hills.   The water stations were plentiful and offered everything a runner could want - from drinks  to gels.   Portajons were well placed along the course.  All in all, you Race Directors really nailed it!  Well done!!!

We will definitely return to run with you all in the future.   Thanks for putting on such an awesome race.

This was my first half marathon. I began running a year ago, lost 35 lbs and started training for this race in February. While the course was really difficult, I finished without walking and had a great time! It was so worth the pain!    Bill from Chambersburg
